What to expect

Stand on a wide, steady board and paddle across Dhangethi's lagoon. The water is calm and shallow, so it's an easy place to learn: most people wobble for a few minutes, then find their balance.

Early mornings are usually the calmest, with the softest light for photos.

Not on calm water. Start on your knees, stand when you feel steady, and look at the horizon rather than your feet. If you fall, it's into warm, shallow water.
